In most cases, the anchor chains are calibrated before or during the vessels’ drydock period, and the class surveyors ask for any chain size reduced by 12% from its original diameter to be renewed. In some urgent cases, ships that lose their partial or complete anchor chains are also asked to quickly source new equipment and install it on board in place of the missing one.
